This week I would like to shift my focus a bit and go back to an issue that seems to becoming the focal point in every discussion all around, yet most of the world still stands in oblivion. A week back South Africa has experienced some of the worst Tornadoes ever, in areas like Duduza in Johannesburg, Ficksburg in the Free State and Durban. Houses were uprooted in the face of a harsh storm, road networks damaged, destroyed and many lives lost. Even to date, multitudes have been left homeless and without a roof above their heads, only to the merciful caring hands of organisations that have come together to respond to their plight and make sure they have something to eat, but most importantly, in the hands of God. One may wonder why such disasters befall innocent people. It is a known fact that humanity has brought so much damage to this world. Our own inventions and discoveries have done so much in the betterment of livelihoods, but sadly, more destruction has fell upon the world as we know it, through all these discoveries and inventions. Our ways have crushed our existence, and in our own paths we wish to undo what our forefathers have done to it. The answer seems to elude everyone, but one thing that I know; it lies in the hands of each and every individual that survives today. Together, so much change can be done. So much has been said in all these conferences, meetings and campaigns, but it’s no longer about talking anymore, but putting words into action. Let this be everyone’s burden, in every corner of Mother Earth. No one is to blame, but ourselves. It so unfortunate that we, as today’s generation, have to undo the mistakes our forefathers did. Global Warming is a reality, and it only takes a fool to ignore its existence. Climates are changing in an absurd manner, and weather patterns are becoming so unpredictable. It is as if no one knows what is happening anymore, or maybe those who know are still filtering the truth from those who do not know?
Let us work together, not as simply people, but as a world! It is our world, and FIGHT is ours!!!
