Two kids almost starved to death in a remote area in Uganda

Today I am forced to lower my head, humble myself and reflect on what I have encountered in the past couple of days. So much has transpired over the last couple of days, but nothing surpasses the kind of footage I had to lay my eyes on. What I came across was nothing I had ever seen, least to say I was left with misty eyes and a pained and depressed heart after watching a dire situation that two kids went through in Uganda. Despite the fact that the short documentary was done in 2008, its revelations bring to one a feeling that paralyses your utmost ability to fathom, with strength, any given situation of similar calibre.
I didn’t know what to do or say, but watch in silent as two kids that were abandoned, crawl through dirt and hunger every single day of their lives, only in the care of an eight year old that is also nothing more than a child herself. It left me with thousands of questions racing in and out of my mind.
All I could ask myself was “why?” One would argue that the parents where probably left with no choice and so decided to forsake their own flesh and blood, in the middle of nowhere, to the mercy of the harsh world itself. But I would like to believe they had a choice to take them with them where ever they were going. A loving and caring parent, especially a mother, has no reason whatsoever to leave her own children behind, especially in this case where they had nothing more than sand and dirt around to rummage through. They were starving to death, their lower limbs slowly withering and shrinking away beneath them. They could not walk, least to say, cry in their predicament.
I believe so much can be done, and so much power is within every individual’s hands to do what Jiju Atheena and their organisation did.

May God bless them and the kids they saved from a life that was consuming every single inch of what was left of their Souls.

Peace be with them and all those who stretched out their hands to the plight of these kids.
